Questions about Haven
Answers to the everyday questions about your family calendar.
What can we help with?

How do we start sharing a family calendar?
What is Haven?
Haven AI Family Calendar is a native iPhone app, available on the Apple App Store, that helps you and your partner share a family calendar, add plans with AI, and prepare for the week. It combines a shared iCloud calendar with review-first imports, calendar questions, familiar-place suggestions, checklists, reminders, and briefings.
Start with setting up your shared family calendar, or see the current product facts.
How do I get my partner to use Haven?
Set up the shared calendar together, add a few real plans, and let each partner try adding an event and checking the day. Start with a benefit they care about, then agree who will keep which plans up to date. You don’t need to be a tech expert or configure every feature at once.
See how to get your partner on board, with husband-focused and wife-focused starting points.
Is Haven an ADHD app?
Haven is a family calendar and scheduling app, not an ADHD treatment or clinical tool. Its quick entry, visible plans, checklists, briefings, and reminders may be useful to people who prefer more scheduling support, but Haven does not claim to diagnose or treat ADHD.
How can I add and find events faster?
Can I ask questions about my family’s schedule?
You can ask Haven questions about events on your calendar, such as when an appointment is, what’s coming up, or who is assigned to a plan. Haven uses your calendar information to answer, so you don’t have to remember which day to search.
- “When’s Maya’s next dentist appointment?”
- “What’s coming up this weekend?”
- “Who’s driving to soccer practice?”
You can also create an event in everyday language: “Maya’s checkup November 12 at 10am at Oak Street Pediatrics.” That prepares an event for you to review, rather than simply answering a question. If an answer returns events, you can share the schedule as text through the iPhone share sheet.
See the calendar question and memory examples or the Haven calendar question demonstration.
How can AI help me manage a family calendar?
Haven’s AI helps you add events from a sentence, turn readable photos and messages into plans, and find events by asking a question. It can also suggest familiar places for a child and activity, so adding the next lesson takes less typing. You review imported events and suggested details before saving.
You don’t need to start a chat to keep up with the day. Briefings, reminders, and the widget bring the plan back to you. Briefings use Google Gemini with relevant calendar details to help you prepare.
See how to add events and ask questions about your calendar.
Can I create an event by typing a sentence?
Yes. Type the event in everyday language, including the date, time, people, and location you know. Haven prepares the details so you can check them before saving. For example, start with “Theo piano Tuesdays at 4 at Maple Music,” then review the repeat pattern and location.
Can Haven remember the places we go regularly?
Yes. Haven can suggest familiar places for a child and activity when you add plans. For example, a swimming lesson can suggest the pool you’ve used for that child, so you don’t have to search for the address again. Review the suggestion before saving, especially if the activity has changed venues.
This is how Haven Memory helps with repeat plans: it suggests a familiar place rather than promising to remember everything about your family. See the familiar-place example.
Do I need a separate AI subscription to use Haven?
No separate Gemini app or subscription is needed to use Haven’s built-in features. Add an image, sentence, or question directly in Haven. Some AI requests may be processed using Google Gemini, as described in the privacy policy; that is different from requiring you to set up a personal Gemini account.
Read the AI processing disclosures and the photo-to-calendar guide.
How do I turn photos and messages into events?
Can Haven turn a photo or screenshot into calendar events?
Yes. Send Haven a readable photo or screenshot, review the events it finds, choose what you need, and save the plans to your family calendar. It works with material such as school newsletters, invitations, paper schedules, and practice times.
- Open the image on your iPhone.
- Use the share sheet to send it to Haven, or choose it inside Haven.
- Check the dates, times, locations, and selected events.
- Save, then add any useful family or preparation details.
Follow the photo and screenshot-to-calendar guide.
Can I paste text instead of importing a picture?
Yes. Haven accepts pasted event details as well as readable images and public event links. Include the date, year, time, and location when you have them, then check the prepared events before saving. Pasting a text list can also create separate checklist items on an event.
Will Haven add every date it finds automatically?
No. You review proposed events and choose what to save. Check the year, times, location, and repeats, and leave out dates that don’t apply to your family. Sending a screenshot doesn’t authorize Haven to scan other emails or add every date without your review.
The screenshot walkthrough shows the review step.
What should I check if an image import looks wrong?
Use a clear image with the complete dates, year, times, and location visible. Correct any missing or incorrect details before saving. If a schedule is long, try smaller readable sections and check for duplicate events between imports. Confirm ambiguous times with the original sender.
See image-import checks or contact Support.
Should I switch phones just to import a calendar image?
Start with the tools on your current phone. Haven is designed for iPhone, while other calendar tools may support different devices. Choose based on the calendar and sharing experience your family needs, rather than one image-import feature alone.
The iPhone photo-to-calendar guide explains the different starting points.
Can Haven handle recurring practices and one-time games?
Yes. Haven supports repeating events as well as one-time, all-day, overnight, and multi-day plans. Review the dates, times, repeat pattern, and end date after importing or connecting a schedule, particularly at the start or end of a season.
Is there a limit on image imports?
Haven currently allows up to 10 image imports per device per day. Use clear images and readable sections for long schedules, and check for duplicate events across imports. Text entry and compatible connected schedules provide other ways to add plans.
See the image-import guide or contact Support if an import is failing.
Can Apple Calendar also create an event from a screenshot?
Yes. On a supported iPhone with Apple Intelligence, Visual Intelligence can offer Add to Calendar when a screenshot contains event details. Availability depends on device, software, language, region, and the image. Review the event before saving.
Haven adds family-specific coordination to the saved plan, including assignments, preparation, briefings, and pickup details. See the Apple option and Haven workflow.
Is attaching a photo the same as importing its dates?
No. Attaching a photo keeps the image with an event; importing reads its dates and details to prepare calendar events. In Haven’s image-import flow, review the events found in the picture and select which ones to save.
See the photo-to-calendar walkthrough.
How do I add an event from a website?
Can Haven make a calendar event from a website link?
Yes. Share a readable public event page from Safari or paste its URL into Haven. Haven prepares event details for review before you save. Public pages work best; a page that requires a login or relies heavily on scripts may need a screenshot instead.
What information can Haven read from an event page?
From a readable public page, Haven can prepare dates, times, locations, event notes, and useful source links for review. What it finds depends on what the page actually contains. Confirm details that are incomplete, ambiguous, or not part of the main event.
See the event-page questions and limitations.
Does Haven automatically monitor an imported event page for changes?
No. Sharing a public event page is a one-time import, not a subscription to that website. Review later changes yourself and update the saved event if needed. Compatible connected calendar feeds are different: Haven checks those when you open the app.
Compare public-link import with connected sports schedules.
What if the event page requires a login or will not load?
Use a readable screenshot or paste the relevant event text instead. Include enough context to identify the date, year, time, and location. Review the prepared event before saving, particularly when the source contains multiple sessions or ticket options.
Use the screenshot-to-calendar steps as a fallback.
Who can see my calendars and information?
Can I bring my existing calendars into Haven?
Yes. Selected calendars from accounts already connected to your iPhone, including Apple, Google, and Outlook or Exchange, can appear alongside Haven. Those outside events are read-only and private to your own Haven view. Your partner sees the shared Haven calendar.
You can keep using Apple Calendar or Google Calendar. See Haven alongside Apple Calendar and Google Calendar with Haven.
Will my partner see my work calendar?
No. Outside calendars connected to your own iPhone remain private in your Haven view. If a work trip or appointment affects the family, open it and use Copy into Haven, review the separate event, and save it to the shared family calendar. That doesn’t give your partner access to the source calendar.
Will edits in Haven change my original Google event?
No. Copy into Haven creates a separate reviewed event rather than editing the outside calendar. If the original event later changes, check the saved Haven copy and update it as needed. Outside events shown in Haven stay read-only.
Does Haven read my inbox or all my messages?
No. You choose the screenshots, photos, text, and public links you provide. Haven does not passively scan your whole inbox or all your messages to find appointments. AI features can process relevant information for your request; iCloud calendar storage does not mean every AI request stays entirely on your device.
See the privacy policy and product reference for the storage and processing distinctions.
Does Haven back up my family calendar?
Haven keeps a rolling history of time-stamped on-device snapshots of events, checklists, family profiles, and saved places. Those local copies provide an additional recovery layer alongside iCloud sync. Sync keeps the shared plan up to date; it is not the same as keeping earlier snapshots.
See the product reference or contact Support if you need help with recovery.
Will my family’s data be used to train AI models?
No. Haven does not allow Google Gemini to use your data to train its models. Haven also does not store the data sent to Gemini on its own servers. Your family calendar is stored in iCloud; AI features send the relevant information to Gemini for processing.
For briefings, Gemini summarizes calendar event titles. Turning off briefings stops sending titles for those summaries. Read the AI privacy disclosures.
How do I see my kids’ sports schedules in one place?
Does Haven connect to my kids’ sports schedules?
Yes. Haven supports compatible GameChanger, TeamSnap, and SportsEngine calendar feeds. School schedules such as ParentSquare may also work when a compatible calendar link is available. Connect the feeds, choose the child, and review the combined family schedule.
How do connected sports schedules update?
Haven checks compatible connected feeds when you open the app. Moved practices and new games can update while family notes and checklists stay with the events. Open Haven before planning the week; don’t treat the connection as a promise of continuous background updates.
See the sports connection steps.
Will a screenshot update when practice moves?
No. A screenshot or photo captures the schedule at the time you import it. Update the event when the coach changes the plan. When available, use a compatible team-calendar connection for a season that changes, and open Haven to check for updates.
Does Haven replace GameChanger or TeamSnap?
Keep the team app for coach messages and team communication. Haven brings a compatible schedule into the family calendar so it can sit beside school dates, appointments, and other plans, with your family’s notes, checklists, and arrangements.
Read the sports calendar guide.
How do I keep up with what’s coming next?
How can I see what my family has planned for today?
Haven’s morning briefing previews upcoming events and their times, with a useful heads-up when the schedule shows something actionable, such as a relevant conflict or an unassigned drive. Quiet days get a clear-day message instead of unnecessary warnings.
See briefing examples and the daily briefing answers.
Can I choose when the daily briefing arrives?
Yes. Choose your morning briefing time in Haven’s notification settings. Pick a time when checking the plan is useful to you, and confirm that notifications are enabled on your iPhone.
How can I get ready for the week ahead?
Haven includes a Friday weekend preview and a Sunday week-ahead briefing as well as the daily briefing. The Sunday briefing follows your morning briefing time, helping you review the family’s week before it starts.
Where do reminders about what to bring come from?
Preparation reminders use the checklist you created or reviewed for the event, rather than guessing gear from its title. Keep the items your family needs on the plan, then check or update them as arrangements change.
Can Haven help me prepare for a birthday party?
Yes. A readable birthday invitation can prepare the party event and an earlier gift reminder for review. A dated RSVP can also become a reminder when the invitation provides a deadline. Check the details, then keep the gift, card, location, and other preparation with the plan.
See the birthday and checklist examples.
Can Haven remind me when to leave?
Yes. With a saved home address and event location, Haven can estimate the drive and show a leave time, with reminders that account for traffic. Estimates start from home, so check the route separately if you’re leaving work or another activity.
See leave-time reminders.
Does Haven continuously track my location?
Haven does not need continuous location tracking for its home-based leave estimates. It uses your saved home address and the event location to estimate travel. If you start somewhere else, check that route yourself.
Read the travel-time guide and privacy policy.
Can a leave reminder include what we need to bring?
Yes. Keep the items on the event checklist so useful preparation can accompany the plan and its reminders. Review the list yourself, especially for trips, special equipment, or instructions that weren’t in the source material.
Can Haven remind me about pickup?
Yes. Set the pickup arrangement and reminder on the event, confirm the collection time, and choose who will collect. Pickup can appear as its own moment on the day timeline, with the associated leave time and family assignment.
Does Haven have an iPhone Home Screen widget?
Yes. Haven’s Next Up widget keeps upcoming event details on your Home Screen, including the next plan and useful timing information. The wider widget can also show checklist items or what comes next, so the calendar stays useful without opening the app.
See the widget and briefing examples.
Can the drop-off and pickup drivers be different?
Yes. Haven has separate driving and pickup assignments on an event. Choose the people responsible for each trip, check the times, and confirm any arrangement with a helper who doesn’t share your calendar.
Can Haven help me spot scheduling conflicts?
Yes. Haven can surface relevant overlapping events involving the same person or assigned driver, but it does not guarantee that every route or handoff is possible. Allow for travel, parking, and getting between venues, even when the event times don’t overlap.
Can I turn off AI summaries of my calendar?
Yes. Turn off briefings to stop Haven from sending calendar event titles to Google Gemini for briefing summaries. Gemini is used to summarize those titles. Other AI features, such as calendar questions or image imports, process information for their own requests when you use them.
Who can use our family calendar?
Can my partner help manage the plan?
Yes. Invite your partner through Haven’s iCloud sharing flow so you can both use and update the shared family calendar. One subscription covers the full calendar for both partners. Agree who handles incoming plans and preparation so maintaining it is shared too.
See the setup guide.
Does one Haven subscription cover both parents?
Yes. One monthly or yearly subscription includes you and your invited partner’s full shared family calendar. You don’t need a second partner plan or paid accounts for children. Children and other helpers can have profiles for family planning rather than separate calendar logins.
Can I include grandparents, friends, and kids in our plans?
Haven shares the family calendar between one adult and one invited partner. You can add up to 8 additional people, including grandparents, friends, and kids, to help organize pickups. Those profiles do not create separate shared-calendar logins, so confirm a helper’s arrangements directly and share the details they need.
See Haven’s access model.
Does Haven work on Android or the web?
What does a family calendar subscription cost?
How much does Haven cost, and can I try it?
Haven costs $5.99 per month or $49.99 per year in the US. One plan includes you and your partner’s full shared family calendar. The annual plan includes a 7-day trial for eligible new subscribers. Regional pricing and eligibility can vary, so check the offer before subscribing.
See plans and download.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
In Haven, open Settings → Manage Subscription to open Apple’s subscription sheet. You can also open your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions and select Haven. Review the plan, renewal date, and available options shown by Apple.
For help, visit Help & Support.
Is Haven free like Apple Calendar?
No. Haven is a subscription app, while Apple Calendar is included with Apple devices. Haven’s monthly or annual plan covers both partners and adds family-focused entry, calendar questions, briefings, preparation, and coordination tools. Choose it for the workflow you’ll use, rather than simply to share dates.
Read Apple Calendar or Haven.
Is Haven cheaper than Cozi?
Cozi has a free plan, so Haven is not the cheapest starting point. Cozi’s paid tiers include different tools. Haven has one monthly or yearly subscription covering the full shared calendar for both partners. Compare the current plans and the features you actually need.
See Haven vs Cozi and its official pricing sources.
How much do Haven and Jam cost?
Haven lists $5.99 per month or $49.99 per year in the US, including you and your partner’s full shared family calendar. Jam lists $15.99 per month or $120.00 per year, covering up to 12 family members. Promotions and regional offers can differ.
See the price table and current official source before subscribing.
How do I move from another calendar app?
Is Maple shutting down, and when should I save my calendar?
Maple’s farewell notice lists December 31, 2026 as its sunset date and also refers to a 90-day account-access window. Check your account notices and preserve important information now, rather than assuming access lasts until a particular day.
Read Maple’s notice, what to save, and how to export your calendar.
Can Haven replace Maple for my family?
Haven can replace the shared-calendar part of your setup if you and your partner use iPhones. It focuses on events, calendar questions, briefings, preparation, and coordination. It does not replace Maple’s full meal planning, recipe library, family inbox, and household task system.
Read Moving on from Maple? Meet Haven and the detailed transition guide.
Do I need to enter all my Maple events again?
Haven can connect calendar events and repeats through Maple’s Google Calendar connection and a private iCal link while that source remains available. Save a separate calendar file when permissions allow, review important dates after connecting, and preserve non-calendar information separately.
Will the Maple connection keep working forever?
Do not depend on it. A calendar feed needs its source to remain available. Preserve a separate file where permissions allow and verify your new calendar before relying on it. The feed is not a full account migration or a permanent backup.
See file exports versus feed connections and what to save before Maple closes.
Can I try Haven before the move is complete?
Yes. Start with next week’s plans, invite your partner, and try adding events, asking calendar questions, and choosing useful briefings. Keep your existing information until you’ve checked the new calendar. Review repeats, multi-day plans, and important appointments before switching fully.
Can I move my entire Jam account to Haven?
Haven does not offer a full Jam account transfer. Preserve important information, check the calendar-sharing or export options available in your Jam account, and review the plans you bring over. Start with next week before changing the setup your family depends on.
Can I move my entire Cozi account into Haven?
Haven does not offer a full Cozi account migration. Check available calendar-sharing or export options and preserve important information before switching. Recipes, meal plans, and household lists are not imported as a complete Cozi account.
See Haven vs Cozi.
Can Haven and TimeTree both create events from pictures?
Yes. TimeTree documents Event Scan, and Haven accepts readable photos and screenshots for review before saving. Choose based on devices, sharing, and how you want to use the saved events, rather than image capture alone.
See Haven vs TimeTree and the Haven screenshot walkthrough.
Is Haven or Cozi better for a family calendar?
Haven is a focused iPhone calendar for two partners who want helpful event entry, calendar questions, iCloud sharing, and briefings. Cozi is broader, with household lists, recipes, meal planning, and cross-platform access. Choose based on the work your family wants one app to handle.
Read Haven vs Cozi for the fit and plan differences.
Can Cozi and Haven import events from email or photos?
Haven accepts readable screenshots and photos, pasted text, and public event links for review before saving. Cozi Max advertises AI Event Import for email-based event creation. Check Cozi’s current plan and supported inputs rather than assuming that feature is included in every tier.
What is the biggest difference between Haven and Jam?
Haven focuses on an Apple-native iPhone family calendar, with iCloud sharing, review-first entry, calendar questions, memory, and useful briefings. Jam is a broader family organizer with Android, web, and separate caregiver and child access. Both support family logistics; compare the whole experience and access model.
See Haven vs Jam for product demonstrations and switching guidance.
Can I keep using Maple during the move?
You can use the connection while your Maple account and its Google connection remain available. Changes that reach the Google calendar can be picked up by Haven. Edits in Haven do not write back to Maple, and source access should not be treated as a permanent backup.
Check your account notices and follow the export and connection guide.
Is Apple Calendar enough for a family?
If your family mainly needs shared dates and alerts, Apple Calendar may be enough. Haven adds a focused workflow for review-first imports, calendar questions, familiar-place suggestions, briefings, checklists, and family coordination. Choose based on the scheduling work you want help with.
See Apple Calendar or Haven for the benefits of upgrading.
What if my calendar connection isn’t working?
I can’t find the Maple calendar in Google. What should I check?
Check that you’re signed into the Google account connected in Maple. Review Maple’s calendar connection and permissions, then confirm that the events actually appear in Google Calendar before copying a link. Haven can only read events that reach that source calendar.
Follow the Maple-to-Google steps.
I can’t find “Secret address in iCal format.”
Use Google Calendar’s website on a computer to open the calendar’s settings and Integrate calendar section. Work or school administrators may restrict access or export options. If the private address isn’t available, contact your administrator or the calendar provider about the permissions you need.
See the private-feed connection steps. Keep a secret calendar address private; it can grant access to the feed.
How do I get help connecting a calendar?
Contact support@havenforfamilies.com and tell us which step you’re on and what happened. Include your iPhone model and app version if relevant. Crop or cover personal information in screenshots where possible, and don’t include a private calendar-feed address.
Open Help & Support for a prefilled email and the setup guides.
The Apple calendar is shared, but an event is missing.
Check which calendar contains the event. An event saved to a personal or work calendar will not automatically appear in a different shared calendar. In Apple Calendar, review the event’s calendar field and confirm that you and your partner are viewing the same shared calendar.
See Apple Calendar sharing and troubleshooting. In Haven, use Copy into Haven to review and save a separate outside event into the family plan.
My partner can see Apple Calendar events but can’t change them.
For a shared iCloud calendar, check the invited person’s sharing permissions and whether Allow Editing is enabled. The owner manages that access in Apple Calendar. Sharing a view and granting editing are separate permissions.
Follow the Apple Calendar sharing guide. If you need help with Haven’s partner invitation instead, contact Support.
Should I make the Maple calendar public to connect it?
No. The Haven connection uses the calendar’s private Secret address in iCal format, not a public calendar link. Keep that address private: someone with it can read the feed. If it is exposed, reset it in Google Calendar and reconnect using the new address.
See the private-feed instructions. Only provide the private address in Haven’s intended connection field, not public messages or screenshots.
