For families moving from Maple
Maple is winding down. Haven can help with what comes next.
We’re sorry to see a thoughtful family product go. If your household relied on Maple, the transition will take some work. Haven can become the new home for your shared calendar—and this guide shows how to rebuild the other parts of your family system with simple tools you already have.
What you gain with Haven
A family calendar that helps carry the coordination work.
Shared calendar and planning is Haven’s focus. Sports, school events, appointments, travel, work commitments, and co-parenting schedules come together in one family-first view.
- Add plans from more places. Turn screenshots, links, photos of paper calendars, and the details you enter into events and tasks.
- Make responsibility clear. Assign the driver for an event so pickup and drop-off plans do not live in one person’s head.
- Catch conflicts earlier. See overlapping commitments while there is still time to make a different plan.
- Give everyone the day. Morning briefings keep each family member informed without a daily round of reminders.
- Keep the family in sync. Haven uses iCloud to update the shared plan privately and automatically.
A practical transition plan
Move what your family needs next.
You do not have to recreate years of household history. Start with the part of the plan your family needs to act on.
- Build the next 30 days. Add the appointments, practices, school dates, travel, and co-parenting commitments coming up first.
- Use what you can still see. Take screenshots of schedules or photos of printed calendars and let Haven help extract the dates. Review each event before adding it.
- Recreate recurring commitments. Add the practices, lessons, custody exchanges, and routines that repeat through the season.
- Invite the family. Give everyone the same calendar, then assign drivers and responsibilities as you rebuild.
- Replace the supporting workflows. Use the simple setups below for meal planning, chores, shopping, and family email.
Move the family schedule to Haven.
Maple gave families one place to coordinate sports, school events, appointments, and co-parenting schedules. This is the most direct part of the transition to Haven. Create each family member’s profile, add the calendars already connected to your iPhone, and rebuild the next month of shared events.
Haven adds family-specific coordination around the schedule: driver assignment, conflict detection, morning briefings, clear family profiles, and a shared view designed for sports, school, appointments, and co-parenting. Read the focused Maple alternative for iPhone page to decide whether that narrower approach fits your family.
Bring the important information to Haven when it arrives.
Maple Assistant could read family emails, find dates, and create events or tasks automatically. Haven does not read a shared email inbox in the background. Instead, you choose what enters the family plan.
Share a screenshot, photograph a flyer or calendar, or enter the details directly. When the plan lives on a public website, share the event page from Safari or paste its URL. Haven reads the chosen page and prepares the dates, times, locations, and useful details for you to review.
You stay in control of what is added, while avoiding much of the retyping that usually follows a school email, team message, or paper handout.
Use Haven events and Apple Notes.
Maple kept chores, to-dos, grocery lists, and meal planning together. Haven is not trying to replace every household tool. A small system using apps already on the iPhone can cover the rest without creating another complicated command center.
- Meal planning: use the Forever Notes framework in Apple Notes to create a shared meal-planning hub with favorite meals, recipes, and a weekly plan.
- Shopping: create a shared Shopping event in Haven for the trip or pickup window. Add everything you need to the reminder list inside that event so the whole family can contribute and check items off from the same list.
- Chores: create a recurring chore event in Haven, add each job to the event’s shared reminder list, and check items off as the family works. Save a reusable weekly list so the routine is easy to reset.
Apple Notes holds the meal plan. Haven gives shopping and chores a time in the family schedule and a shared checklist for getting them done.
Create a dedicated family Gmail address.
Maple offered a family email address and connected inboxes so household communications were visible in one place. You can recreate the shared address with Gmail.
Create one address for school forms, sports registrations, medical offices, household accounts, and other family communications. Use automatic forwarding or Gmail delegation so each adult can receive or access those messages without sharing a password.
When an email contains something the family needs to do or attend, bring that specific information into Haven as an event or task. The inbox remains the record; Haven becomes the plan.
We’ll help you build the next version of your family plan.
Move the shared calendar to Haven, then use the tools your family already knows for everything around it.
