How to Export Your Maple Calendar

Save your calendar events before leaving Maple, then choose where to use them next.

To move calendar events out of Maple, first connect Maple to Google Calendar and check that your events appear there. If you have export permission, save an .ics copy from Google Calendar on a computer. To bring the schedule into Haven, you can instead use the calendar’s private iCal link.

This exports calendar events, not your entire Maple account. Save lists, recipes, notes, and files separately. The steps depend on access to your Maple account and its Google connection, so check those before relying on the transfer.

What you’ll need

  • Access to your Maple account and its Google Calendar connection.
  • A Google account and a browser. A computer is easiest for finding the calendar link.
  • Haven on your iPhone, with Maple listed under Settings → Connections.

This brings over calendar events, not your entire Maple account. Save recipes, lists, files, and other household information separately.

Connect Maple to Google and check your events.

1. Connect Google in Maple

In Maple, open Calendar Settings → External Calendars → Google. Sign in to the Google account you want to use and follow Maple’s connection prompts.

Maple creates a calendar called Maple in Google Calendar. If Maple asks for a paid plan, check the connection options available on your account before continuing.

2. Check that your events reached Google

Open Google Calendar in a browser and sign in with the same account. Find the calendar named Maple and check a few upcoming events.

If it’s empty or missing, resolve the Maple-to-Google connection first. Haven can only read the events that reach that calendar.

Save a calendar file before you move.

On a computer, open Google Calendar and find the Maple calendar under My calendars. Open its menu, choose Settings and sharing, then Export calendar. Save the .ics file somewhere you can find again.

If you use Settings → Import & export → Export to download all eligible calendars, open the .zip to find the individual calendar files. Export requires “Make changes and manage sharing” permission. If that option isn’t available for the Maple calendar, contact Maple support about your export options.

A saved file is a snapshot. Later changes won’t update it. Check important dates and repeats after importing it into your next calendar app.

Want to connect the calendar to Haven?

If you’re moving to Haven, use the private feed below. A feed connection and a saved backup file serve different purposes; don’t rely on a feed as your only backup.

3. Open the Maple calendar’s settings

In Google Calendar, choose the gear icon, then Settings. Under Settings for my calendars, choose Maple.

4. Copy its private calendar link

Choose Integrate calendar, then copy the Secret address in iCal format. It usually ends in basic.ics.

Use that address, not the link for adding a calendar to another Google account. You don’t need to make your calendar public.

5. Connect the calendar in Haven

On your iPhone, open Settings → Connections → Maple and paste the link. Haven shows how many events it found and asks who they’re for. Choose the family members, then tap Connect.

Check an appointment and a repeating event in Haven. Confirm the dates, times, and people before relying on the new plan.

What comes with you?

From MapleWhat to expect in Haven
Calendar eventsEvent names, times, and repeats come through the calendar connection.
Who’s goingChoose family members when connecting the calendar.
Reminder settingsHaven uses your reminder settings, rather than Maple’s.
Lists, meals, and filesThese aren’t part of the calendar feed. Save them separately.

A chore that was saved as a repeating calendar event may come over as an event. Maple’s separate chore and to-do lists do not.

Can I keep using Maple during the move?

Yes, while your Maple account and its Google connection are still available. Changes that reach the Google calendar can be picked up by Haven. This doesn’t send edits from Haven back to Maple.

The connection depends on Maple continuing to provide events. It isn’t a permanent backup of everything in your account. Maple’s farewell notice lists December 31, 2026 as its sunset date and also refers to a 90-day access window. Check your account’s notices and save what matters now.

Once your events are in Haven, check important appointments and repeat patterns. Invite your partner, add useful notes or deadlines, and choose briefing times that suit your family.

Stuck on a step?

I can’t find the Maple calendar in Google.

Check that you’re using the Google account connected in Maple. Review Maple’s Google connection and calendar permissions, then check Google again. Wait until you can see the events there before copying a link.

I can’t find “Secret address in iCal format.”

Use Google Calendar’s website, not its mobile app. On iPhone, request the desktop website in Safari, or use a computer. Work and school accounts may have sharing restrictions; Google recommends asking your administrator if the secret address is unavailable.

Haven says I’ve pasted a Google share link.

A link containing ?cid= adds a calendar to Google. Go back to the Maple calendar’s settings and copy its Secret address in iCal format instead.

I need help connecting it.

Email support@havenforfamilies.com with the step you’re stuck on. Please don’t send your secret calendar link or unredacted family details.
