Privacy Policy
Haven for Families ("Haven," "we," "our," or "us") is a family calendar and scheduling app built for iPhone and iPad. We take your family's privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
The short version: your calendar and family data lives in your iCloud account. We don't have servers that store it, we can't access it, and we don't sell it.
1. Data We Collect
Haven collects only what's necessary to provide its core features:
- Calendar and event data — event titles, dates, times, locations, notes, assigned family members, recurrence rules, and whether an event is marked private. This data is created by you and stored directly in your iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. It never passes through our servers.
- Family member profiles — names, colors, and emoji you assign to members of your household. Stored in iCloud, not on our servers.
- App preferences — settings such as notification preferences and onboarding status. Stored locally on your device and in iCloud.
- AI-generated content — when you use Haven's AI features (event suggestions, morning briefings, smart descriptions), relevant text is sent to Google Gemini to generate a response. We do not store this input on our servers.
- Anonymous usage analytics — when you use our app, we collect non-identifiable events (feature taps, screen views) to help us improve the app. No names, emails, or calendar content are included.
- Purchase information — subscription status is managed entirely by Apple via StoreKit. We do not receive or store payment information.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Syncing your calendar and family profiles across your devices via iCloud.
- Delivering local notifications (daily briefings, event reminders) on your device.
- Generating AI-powered event descriptions and briefings via Google Gemini.
- Improving app features through anonymous, aggregated analytics.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
3. iCloud and Apple CloudKit
All calendar and family data is stored exclusively in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. Haven does not operate its own database for your personal data — we have no ability to access, view, or export your calendar content. 4. Google Gemini (AI Features)
Haven's AI features use the Google Gemini API. When you request an AI suggestion or morning briefing, relevant event text is sent to Google's servers to generate a response. This data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not permanently store the text you send to Gemini on our own servers.
5. Children's Privacy
Haven is designed for use by adults managing family schedules. The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Haven does not collect children's names or any personal information about minors. Family member profiles consist only of a first name and visual preferences (color and emoji) entered by the adult account holder for their own organizational use. This data is stored exclusively in the adult's personal iCloud account — we have no access to it.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Your calendar data lives in your iCloud account and is under your control at all times. You can delete any event, family member profile, or your entire account from within the app or from iCloud settings. Deleting the app removes all locally cached data from your device.
7. Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple CloudKit. We follow Apple's security guidelines and do not transmit unencrypted calendar content over the network.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and notify you within the app. Continued use of Haven after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
